New Year, New Challenges

Hi friends! Happy New Year! I hope all of you are off to a great start in your year. I don’t know about you, but I love the start of the new year. It’s a new beginning! I’m so excited for what the New Year brings and I can’t wait to share with y’all!

The New Year is a perfect time to set goals and make sure you attain those goals, while also seeing and learning more about yourself.

What I like most is later reflecting on how much I’ve grown in the past year. So for the purposes of this blog post, I’m going to talk about what I’m looking forward to this year and then later go into detail about how you can look forward to what 2020 has in store for you!

So let’s get started.

What I’m Looking Forward to in 2020

Starting up at My 3rd Internship

So I’ve mentioned my college journey as well as my adventures while taking part in my internships. In the past, I’ve interned at a local radio station in the promotions and marketing department. More recently, at a large Public Relations firm and now, I’ll be interning at a smaller public relations firm.

I’m really excited to start this next chapter in my professional life.

Graduation (FINALLY!)

After being in school for five years, I’ll be finishing up my college journey this year! I am so thankful for all of the curveballs, life and God has thrown me. If it’s your first time on here, I’ve been to a total of 3 schools in the span of five years. While my road through undergrad has been convoluted, I learned my purpose in life and have gained more clarity in the process. I love where I’m at and I’m excited for my growth in the months leading up to graduation!

Growing more in my faith

I started my faith journey last year when I realized I was in the world and losing sight of myself. I look forward to growing it and making sure I’m going to church and other activities that allow me to foster that faith.

Through growing in my faith, I really hope to meet many more people through church and gain a deeper understanding of myself in Christ.

Traveling More

As I write this, I’m looking at my new dreams poster of all the places I want to visit in the next few years and I’m looking into going to a couple of places before the year is over.

I haven’t been on a plane in a whileeeee and wanderlust is literally eating me up inside! I can’t wait to see all the new adventures and later sharing with all of you!

Becoming More Independent

Since this is going to be the year that I graduate, it’s pretty fitting to say that this year I’m looking forward to being more independent and more responsible. Now that’s not to say that I’m moving out and being on my own this year, but rather gradually working towards becoming independent.

I started last year when I started working at a restaurant and as a substitute teacher. Through that, I learned about the importance of being responsible with my money and making sure I set aside some money for emergency savings.

But this year, I really want to work towards gradually becoming more independent in other ways. My approach, in essence, is working from the inside (i.e taking care of some of my expenses, like on my credit card), out (eventually paying for my phone, and some other essential items).

I’ll discuss all of this in a future blog post, very soon!

How you can look forward to the year ahead!

So maybe you’re the kind of person who doesn’t believe in goals or maybe you’re someone who doesn’t believe in the whole notion of a brand-new start in the beginning of the new year.

But. Imagine this, the new year (in general) is a chance for you to seek more opportunities for growth. You have 365 days to try, fail, try again and fail again! What’s more is you have even more opportunities to learn about yourself and the situations you find yourself in, only if you choose to, of course.

If you’re not keen on making goals, because you get down on yourself when you don’t accomplish goals, I’ve heard of people using a specific word and living by that word for the rest of the year.

Some people have incorporated words like:

  • opportunity
  • unapologetic
  • bold**
  • free
  • forgive

I found this concept really interesting and decided to incorporate that into my life, along with my goals for the year! I’ve chosen ‘bold’ and have created goals that help me live up to that word. It’s really cool and I can’t wait to see where this new approach to life is going to take me.

I really hope and pray that all of you may realize all the opportunities you have this year to grow into better people. Thanks for stopping by!

Sending all the love and light your way,
